Final book design and mock ups

Gold pigment mixed with chemical to produce gold paint to transfer
onto the front of the book cover.

The logo for the book was scree printed onto the front of the  book.

Duplex corrugated was included to support the packaging and give it strength, durability and weight.

I cut a box shaped hole in one side of the packaging to create a window using an acetate sheet.I did this so the customer could see the front cover of the book .

Three different stickers are included within the packaging for the customer to do what ever they wish to with them. Another reason I did this was so that the consumer would further advertise the book by placing the stickers in view of the public view. This form of advertising is called viral advertising and is aimed at getting the  consumer to advertise the product themselves.

Layout for 'The story of the Boombox' book.

I produced the layout for this book in InDesign.
The majority of the photos in this book are black and white. My reasons for doing this is because I am talking about the history of the Hip Hop culture. Straight away the word 'history' tells me that I need to give a dated feel to the book if  I want the reader to be interested and feel as though what they are looking at and reading about is genuine history.
And using black and white photography is the perfect way to portray this. I used some color but tended to use them only when necessary appropriate.
